This month with the Mackrills

“Remember the reason for the season.” Is a phrase you will hear quite a few times this Christmas time of the year. However, I wonder if we stop for a moment and think upon that well worn out phrase. If you’re like me then you probably thought, “Well yes, I have thought about that phrase. It means that we need to remember that Christmas is about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Indeed you are correct.

What I would like to offer you is a simple yet profound truth from the gospel of Matthew. Matthew 1:21 (KJV) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. This Christmas season let us remember the reason for the season. It’s so much more than just the birth of Jesus, it’s about why He was born; to save us from our sins. So next time you hear that cliché don’t just nod in agreement, stop and think about the reason God sent His only begotten Son, to be our savior. It’s not just about the baby in the manger but also the risen Savior!

God bless you all and have a Merry Christmas!
